‘This place is a really nice find. It was night and the candle lit deck was a lovely place to dine. The waitresses were both very friendly and attentive. I had the chowder and hubby had the three skewers. Both meals were large and super delicious. Very reasonable prices. The other meals we saw coming to the tables all looked great. Nice wine list. All in all a really relaxed casual place with very good food.’

When a bird is dive bombing the water searching for dinner right in front of you, it kind of increases your expectation of a good seafood meal. Luckily one of Auckland’s little-known gems doesn’t disappoint.

‘Best fish in town. If im in the mood for seafood, this is where I come. The atmosphere suits me down to a T! Relaxed yet classy and your right by the sea :-) I don't even mind if I miss out on the catch of the day as i know once its gone its gone - they don't reach into a freezer and thaw me a day old fish. Menu isn't extensive so don't come here if your with a fussy bunch! But if you want to relax and have some fresh seafood cooked to perfection then this is the place to go. Keep it up Bill Fish!!!

‘What a great place and location, gives you the feeling of a family operated restaurant were the owners and their team care - and work together. The food was great in value, quality and presentation to my expectation. The Hawkesbay tab beer was a refreshingly great match for my fish and chips. The five of us had a very nice time at Bill Fish’

‘For a harbour city, Auckland's not really over-endowed with good (and affordable) seafood restaurants. Sure, you could dive into Hammerheads or Harbourside, but expect to pay a hefty whack at those flasher places. Run by a friendly family, Bill Fish Café is more affordable and still has scarily fresh seafood. After just one visit it's the kind of place that's on its way to becoming a regular haunt. At around twenty dollars the fish and chips is an absolute steal, with several generous-sized fillets of gurnard served with more than a handful of fat, chunky fries. Visit this place quick before the secret gets out…’

‘The food is consistently very good and fresh. The reviews are right, arguably the best fish & chips and even the ham and cheese toasty I had today was extremely tasty and comes with a side of chutney that's clearly homemade and brill. The coffees are very well done also. All in all a great place for a meeting or lunch, with a great view and parking right in amongst the boats. They have specials of the day, typically fish of course and this place really knows how to cook. As a closing comment, every time I have been there the service has been very friendly and the staff obviously like their work.’
